Ostrea, Limousine Tender
Hodgdon Yachts have commissioned Morpheus to create a luxurious limousine tender, limited edition. Founded in 1816, Hodgdon are America’s oldest boat builder and have an enviable reputation producing some of the world’s highest quality custom vessels, specializing in superyacht tenders.
Drawing parallels from the high-end automobile industry and their bespoke interiors, the brief was to take Hodgdon’s 10.5m standard platform and create an enhanced offering for their clients. We took original inspiration from the form of an oyster & pearl, representative of the yacht itself and the client or ‘pearl’ that the boat is transporting. The result of this collaboration is “Ostrea”, with the sturdy shell of the hull offering a protective casing for the VIPs on board, surrounded by the most sumptuous and detailed luxury of the interior.
Developing on the sea life theme, colours found in mother of pearl, from soft pink through to creams and greys, were introduced into the soft furnishings, whilst the organic and fluid forms of an oyster inform the sculpted interiors, with scalloped
details brought into the leather upholstery and rich carpeting. In layout terms, the internal deck is zoned into a guest space forward with VIP arm chairs aft, whilst separating these spaces is access for embarking and disembarking, and a custom designed cocktail cabinet to make this a true day boat. Every aspect of the design has been considered from the air conditioning vents to pop-up champagne glass holders, both in polished nickel.
Countering the soft and comfort driven interior, we also developed the exterior styling of the boat, changing the silhouette of the window and roofline to be more striking and introducing rose gold coloured stainless steel accents which contrast beautifully with the dark mahogany and teak exterior woods.
The overall result is a boat that is as impressive as the superyacht it is intended to serve, making the whole client experience on board Ostrea an holistic and enviable one.
